MetaFarms will safeguard your privacy online. This statement discloses the privacy practices for the PorkNet website. Please read the following policy to understand how your personal information will be treated as you make use of all our features. This policy may change from time to time; return and review it once and awhile.
If you have any questions about this statement, please e-mail us: feedback@porknet.com.
Privacy Statement
MetaFarms wants to make your experience online satisfying and safe. Information is collected from you primarily to make it easier and more rewarding for you to use our services. We ask everyone who wants to access PorkNet's features other than the Home Page to register.
When you register, we will ask you for information such as your name, e-mail address, and details about what part of the pork industry supply chain you participate in, e.g. producer, veterinarian, lender, etc., and - for producers - some details about the size of your operation. This information will be kept confidential and will not be shared with third parties. We will, however, share anonymous summaries of it with our partners, sponsors, and advertisers. What this means is that we will put together summaries that say things like “30 percent of our users are pork producers. Two-thirds of PorkNet users are from North America. In total, PorkNet users report owning 3 million head.”
So that we can provide personalization services and opportunities for prizes and services, we may at times ask you to submit information such as your name, e-mail address, or share with us your interests. You never have to answer these questions and you can decline this exchange of information on any site at any time. However, if you should choose to withhold it, we may not be able to provide you with some personalized services or the purchase and shipment of products and prizes.
We are able to keep our website free because of advertising revenue. Our ability to provide enhanced services and content depends on our ability to provide targeted advertising for our partners and clients. Here’s how you and our advertisers benefit from our use of registration information:
- It gives us the ability to provide personalized content to our readers.
- We can monitor the actions of our readers to see what specific parts of the PorkNet site people use.
- We provide advertisements that support our customers’ specific requests for information through keyword searches and editorial content. Do a search on “pneumonia” for instance and you may see a banner advertisement from a pharmaceutical company.
- We develop summary - but not individual - reports for our advertisers. An example might be “500 people clicked on Advertisement ‘X’ today and of those people 35 percent had previously indicated they are pork producers.” The people who make it possible to use PorkNet at a subsidized cost - our advertisers - need this information to determine how effective their investments are. We never tell our advertisers who it was that saw or clicked on their advertisements unless you have told us this is acceptable.
- We may ask you to participate in brief and infrequent surveys to help us improve the PorkNet website. Of course, you always have the option of not participating, and requesting that we stop sending you any special offers or promotions.
Other companies which place advertising
on our site may collect information about you when you click on their advertising
or content. Due to the way the
Internet operates, we cannot control this collection of information. You
should contact them directly if you have any questions about their use of the
information
they collect.
